Digital hearing aid for Mary Moodley

People who have difficulty hearing can now have a digital hearing aid fitted at the Mary Moodley Clinic, in Actonville.

The clinic recently supplied the devices to the first 11 patients.

Chairperson of the Mary Moodley Clinic, Selvan Naidoo, said they were excited at the digital aids as they previously had only the analogue type.
Among the 10 patients was 92-year-old Johanness Mans, from Brakpan, who was the oldest, with the youngest being Wattville resident Manuel Kabiswa (32).

They were all thrilled about how much the hearing aids have changed their lives.

Most said they would now be able to once again participate in social activities.

Naidoo said the 11 patients are the first of many to come.

He thanked companies Phonak and Medifix for providing the software and other resources as the clinic does not have their own yet.

If you live in the Benoni area and would like to have your hearing tested, please contact the Audiologist Jessica at Mary Moodley clinic on 011 421 8680 to schedule an appointment.

Naidoo also said the clinic welcomes assistance from the public with positive inputs and assistance to improve the service standard.
