Benoni Van Rhyn Lions:

This club was founded in 1976 with the aim of making a difference in the community and they have projects on a regular basis that help them raise funds in order to assist those in need.

Members meet on the first Saturday of every month, at 9am, at the Moth Cottages in Brakpan.

Benoryn Branch Lions Club:

In August 2016, the Benoryn Branch Lions Club became a branch Lions Club for the Benoni van Rhyn Lions Club.

The club’s current president, Leslie Young, said anyone who has a heart for helping others is welcome to join the club.

They currently cater for women of any age but men who would like to join are also welcome.

When asked what the purpose of the club is, Young said: “Every community has a need for volunteers to help those less fortunate.”

The club supports various organisations within the community with food parcels and any other needs they may have.

Members meet every second Saturday of every month from 10am at 111 Howard Avenue, Western Extension.

Benoni Lakes Lions Club:

The Benoni Lakes Lions Club made history when elected its youngest, and first female president, Lauryn Talbot for the 2017/18 year.

The club’s projects are aimed at protecting the environment, relieving hunger, eye screenings, supporting visually impaired bowlers along with other numerous projects in the community.

Anyone can join the club, but they are mostly focused on recruiting young people.

Members meet every second Tuesday of every month from 7pm at Cherrylane Gourmet Café, 14th Avenue and Fifth Street, Northmead.

Benoni Host Lions Club:

The Benoni Host Lions Club welcomes any new members but before you join they educate you about the club so you can know more about what they do.

The club has numerous projects such as the monthly jumble sale which is held on the last Saturday of the month and the book sale every second Friday and Saturday of the month and last Sunday of the month at the Mall @ Carnival.

Funds raised through these projects are used for their service projects within the community of Benoni for the needy.

The club will be celebrating their 60th birthday on August 19.

They meet every first Saturday of the month at 9am at the clubhouse, 111 Howard Avenue, Avenue, Western Extension.
