Keybase celebrates 25 years

Gerry Rantseli-Elsdon was the guest speaker at the 25th birthday celebration of Keybase Training Solutions.

Keybase celebrated the day with a breakfast at the Lakes Hotel and Conference Centre, in Lakefield, on July 1.

Rantseli-Elsdon is a TV presenter, mistress of ceremonies (MC), businesswoman and philanthropist.

She became a prominent figure in South Africa after co-hosting the first season of Big Brother South Africa, in 2001.

Rantseli-Elsdon has since appeared as a continuity announcer on M-net and aims to become an “international voice for women”.

She spoke about her own experience and journey to success, as well as the differences and links between volunteerism and business.

“Women are great business people, we can hold our own in any industry,” she said.

“Using my status and capital, I’ve now become very involved in philanthropy and volunteerism, which I love.

“In business, we pay people to get things done, in charity people volunteer because they believe in the cause.

“I think we should try to transfer the belief that volunteers have in a cause to business; can you imagine where that would take us?”

Cheryl Oelofse started Keybase in 1990 and her company has now grown to include two training centres, with one in Pretoria and one in Lakefield.

Most of the staff from the Lakefield branch were present at the breakfast event and the manager of the Pretoria branch also attended.

Oelofse thanked everyone in attendance for their continued support and welcomed Rantseli-Elsdon.
