Funds raised for a good cause

Lending a helping hand to children in need.

A charity fund-raiser was held in Benoni for The Love of Christ Children’s Home (TLC), which is located in Bronkhorstfontein, on July 7.

TLC Children’s Home was founded by the Jarvis family in 1993 with the mission to provide a refuge for any baby or child in need of care whether they have been abandoned, neglected, orphaned or abused.

The home caters for more than 80 children.

Adel Kleyn, organiser of the fund-raiser, said she urges the community to support the Adopt-A-Cot project, which is the home’s sustained giving programme, where you can sponsor between one and ten cots at R100 each.

“The small monthly donation goes towards the care of the baby who sleeps in that cot,” said Kleyn.

Cherka Meyer from Springs sold jewellery.

The donation will cover basic essentials such as baby formula, nappies, clothes, food, medicine and anything else they might need to thrive as happy, healthy little people.

The fund-raiser offered visitors various stalls, pony rides, jumping castles and live entertainment.

Northmead residents Celine Bouwer (left) and Werner Rossler donated goodies for the TLC Children’s Home. Rossler also performed on the day.

Kleyn thanked all the sponsors who made the fund-raiser a success.
