Scouts make Mother’s Day memorable

The morning included a full English breakfast, entertainment, lucky draw prizes and flea market stalls.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, the East Rand District Scouts hosted a Mother’s Day breakfast.

Two-hundred-and-sixty-two people attended the event at Arrow Park in Alphen Park, on May 12.

The funds raised will go toward repaying the scouts group that contributed money towards the transport costs to transport two storage containers from Kimberly to King Williams Town.

The containers will be used by the Scouts in King Williams Town under the leadership of Lunga and Thandi Nqini.

“When we first heard about the containers, we were so excited,” said Thandi.

According to Thandi, one container is used as offices and the other is used for storage.

Lunga shared the same sentiments, he said the containers would help a lot in terms of space.

“Now we don’t need to store anything at our house anymore,” he said.

The chief commissioner of the national scouts, Andrew Tanner, said the group was very proud of the district for what they had done for Lunga and Thandi.
