Friends and community bleed for McCallum

Nineteen units of blood were donated during a drive held in honour of Barry McCallum recently.

The drive was held at Grapes Pub and Restaurant on April 7.

McCallum died on March 9, 17 days after he was rushed to hospital after his car burst into flames in Western Extension.

When McCallum (46) started his Opel Corsa on February 20, it caught fire.

He was transported to Life the Glynnwood Hospital with between 50 to 70 per cent burns on his body.

His brother, Kevin, said Barry was declared brain dead on the morning of March 9.

The blood drive was organised by Julie and George Venner, owners of Grapes and friends of McCallum.
