Will there be electronic timing at the Profix Scaffolding Marathon?

YES! We are very excited as we have partnered with Championchip who will be doing the timing at the Profix Scaffolding Marathon. ChampionChip will be used to time the 48km, 42.2km, 21.1km and 10km events and therefore you are required to own or rent a ChampionChip® to participate and receive an official time. The 5km fun run will not be timed.

I don’t have a Championchip, where can I get one?

If you do not currently have a ChampionChip order one at www.championchip.co.za or by contacting ChampionChip® Africa on 0861 100 963. You can also choose to hire one for the day. Enquire when you collect your race number.

Why do you have a new distance event of 48km?

For runners hoping to qualify or improve their seeding for the Comrades Marathon, the replacement of the 50km ultra marathon event with the 48km distance offers an opportunity to improve their seeding for the Comrades Marathon.

The Comrades qualification criteria table requires runners to complete a distance of 48km to 50km in less than 5 hours and 49 minutes. By participating in a 48km race, runners “score” the time they would have spent running the extra 2km in a 50km event for the same qualification.

Will my result be automatically submitted to Comrades?

The Ultra & Marathon qualifying times are automatically submitted to Comrades.

Can my children participate?

For the 5km we encourage families to run together. Runners must be at least 4 years old and we insist that all children under 11 are accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.  10km minimum age is 15 years; 21.1km minimum age is 16 years and 48km and 42.2km minimum age is 20 years. Numeric age category ID tags to be worn on the back and front of the vest and clearly visible. Proof of age must be produced on request on the day.

What time will prize giving take place?

Prize giving for the 10km and 21.1km events will take place at 9am.

Prize giving for the 42.2km and 48km events will take place at 11am.
