Benoni’s inaugural music event will see a market, “fun run” and line-up of some of the most popular bands and DJs in the country, entertain the crowd.
The festival will be held at St Dunstan’s College, in Rynfield, on May 7.
Tickets will be available at St Dunstan’s College, between 7am and 8am on Wednesdays and Fridays.
The general entry tickets will be R100 each (children under six years enter for free), while the Golden Circle tickets will sell for R250 each and backstage VIP passes for R350 each.
The list of confirmed bands for the event has steadily grown since its inception.
Fans can expect at least the following personalities at The Festival:
- Gangs of Ballet: Their music has been said to defy placement into specific genres, rather being a mix of alternative, melodic, electronic and dance. Read the full article: Gangs of Ballet in the mix for The Festival.
- DJ Voltrex: A DJ/producer duo that is determined to be one of the top South African DJ groups and specialises in big room, progressive house, future house and deep house. Read the full article: Young DJs to set The Festival alight.
- Moloi.Hesse Band: The idea of the collaboration was to develop a period blues sound, though the duo recently started to explore a more accessible jazz-sound. Read the full article: Swing blues will spice up The Festival.

- Desmond and the Tutus: This jokingly-named group’s genre has been dubbed “kwêla-indie-punk”, which they’ve been playing for the past 10 years. Read the full article: Desmond and the Tutus head to Benoni.
- Chunda Munki: Chunda munki is the alias of 23-year-old DJ and producer Blayze Saunders, who specialises in the energising beats of house. Read the full article: Go bananas for DJ Munki.

- Bongi Mthombeni (master of ceremonies): The SA Idols 2010 contestant was eliminated before the finals, but didn’t give up and his singing career has blossomed since then.
Tickets to attend the Festival @ St Dunstan’s are available from St Dunstan’s College and Preparatory School, Wakaberry Oakfields, Harvey World Travel Benoni, RED Boutique (Sheridan Street) in Farrarmere, the Benoni City Times offices and Cynammon Boutique in Northmead Square.
