Protea production returns

The production, which is directed by Margaret Todd, will be staged at Tom Newby School, in Northmead, from October 7 to 23.

Tickets are R80 for adults and R50 for pensioners, however, no children under the age of 13 are allowed due to strong language.

The production will run every Friday and Saturday, at 7.30pm, and Sunday, at 2.30pm.

Who Opened the Curtains is about a play within a play, where two couples are having affairs and both couples act in a play where the affairs are revealed.

The prompt (the person who cues the actors when they forget their lines) is usually behind the scenes in normal productions, but, in this one, the character, played by Donovan Eybers, is very important on stage, because the couples forget their lines after discovering the affairs.

“This production has the cast speaking to the audience, which is not often seen in plays,” said Todd.

“All the wrong music is played on purpose, it is just a comedy.”

Todd is still in need of a carpet for the production.
