Cannonballs and deadly spheres await in this circus show

The talented, daring and slightly insane performers will travel the length and breadth of the country to dazzle and amaze audiences from February 12 to May 22.

Among the Sun International venues that will be transformed for the thrilling circus shows is Carnival City’s Big Top Arena.

This is the first time that Aussie has visited foreign soil on its international tour, and it promises to leave audiences in awe, with the cast performing unbelievable feats.

Highlights of the show include one of the world’s few surviving human cannonball acts, that is performed by expert stuntman Luiz Daza, who has literally flown over audiences in his death-defying act.

Audiences will also marvel at the dizzying Globe of Death, which features up to five motorbike riders circling a daring dancer in a sphere, with Mad Max-style bravado, before the sphere splits in half, and thrilling freestyle motocross stunts, during which riders reach gut-wrenching heights beneath the circus ceiling.

Between these breathtaking and death-defying stunts, a troupe of talented and equally daring Aussies will perform amazing feats of human endurance, skill and strength.

From Queen of the Silks Kiarnna, vaudevillian performer and slapstick comedian Val de Funand the illusion of the salsa-dancing quick-change act, to the duo pole performance by Edison and Giselle, audiences will be mesmerised from start to finish.

“Aussie is world class family entertainment that will have South Africans on the edge of their seats,” said Lara Horvath, Sun International group entertainment manager.

“This is a modern and exclusively human, feel-good circus spectacular that blends stunning cirque-style acrobatics, hilarious vaudevillian antics and extreme, high octane stunts that reflect the offbeat nature of Australians.”

The show will run at Carnival City from May 19 to 22 and there will be an entrance fee.
