Bring back the ’90s

The new Barnyard Theatre show, ’90s Mania, is a celebration of this cool decade, filled with a variety of pop, rock, alternative and old school music, as well as a collection of one-hit wonders.

Featuring an 11-piece cast of singers, dancers and musicians, ’90s Mania is a blast from the past where we saw an emergence of new bands such as Oasis, Nirvana, Counting Crows, Live, The Cranberries and many more.

We also saw the emergence of a new selection of rock and pop divas, including Alanis Morissette, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion, as well as new male rockers, including Robbie Williams, Lenny Kravitz and Jamiroquai.

The hip-hop scene achieved popularity with MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice, while the boy and all girl groups emerged with a vengeance – with names such as The Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys and NSYNC, all dominating the 1990s pop charts.

Old school rock also made its mark, with groups such as REM, Bon Jovi, Mike and The Mechanics, Roxette, U2 and UB40, while country music was represented by mega stars, including Garth Brooks and Shania Twain, making the ’90s the decade with the most variety when it comes to music choice.

So, hands down, the ’90s became a decade to remember and ’90s Mania is an awesome night out, bringing back those memories, songs and parties.

The show will run from February 9 till March 6, starting at 8pm between Tuesdays and Saturdays, and at 2pm on Sundays.

’90s Mania will be staged in the Barnyard Theatre at Emperors Palace, and there will be an entrance fee.
