Global organisation gets school’s wheels turning

The donation brings the school closer to its goal of purchasing a new school bus.

Following the theft of it school bus in February, Shanan Christian School, in Farrarmere, has been grappling to ensure that learners are safely transported to academic, sport and cultural activities.

Due to the age of the vehicle, the insurance pay-out fell short of ensuring that a new reliable vehicle could be procured.

“Not allowing the setback deter our spirit, the school’s management along with the SGB banded together, hosting a various fundraisers to get us closer to raising the R500 000 needed to purchase a new school bus,” said the school’s principal, Kirsten Oosthuizen.

“Prayers and combined efforts have brought us closer to our goal when Strata Worldwide donated R183 800 to the cause, as part of its Mandela Day initiative.

“We are grateful for a large corporation chose to ‘pay it forward’ to our school.”
