Leerders van Laerskool Brentwoodpark het gejuig toe Queen of Queens, African Queen Foundation Ambassadeur, Bianca Birnie van Springs en haar glinsterende tiara, ‘n besoek aan hul skool afgelê het.

Sy het saam met ELB Equipment, Bredell Spar en Pageants SA ‘n skenking van 800 boeke aan die skool gemaak.

Die hoof, Johan Erasmus het gesê die leerders is opgewonde dat die skool eindelik ‘n mediasentrum en biblioteek gaan vestig.

“Ons glo dit sal ‘n reuse verskil maak in hoe skoliere hul daaglikse studies sal aanvul,” het hy gesê.

Great North gets a clean sweep
Colleagues and business owners saved their spreadsheets and rescheduled their meetings to join Clean Projects, in giving the intersection of Great North Road and Mercury Street a clean sweep.

Armed with brooms and rakes, supporters collected litter and cleared gullies, to continue beautifying the city.

Using an industrial strength leaf blower, modified to suck and shred natural materials seamlessly, and depositing it into a trailer for effortless composting, Nicholas Benn of AfriForum made quick work of clearing the road.

Let the litter be gone. The team from Smith Power Equipment eagerly helped with the clean-up. Shannyn Karshagen, Mariska Roodt, Gerhard Taljaard and Lindie Swartz.

Putting ‘good’ in Goedeberg. Delia Botha and Debbie Goosen are familiar faces at the community clean-up projects. The retirees said they happily dedicate their time to Clean Projects to give back to their community.

Spreading love to the city’s furry friends
Delivery motorcycles and trucks streamed through The Animal Guardians’ (TAG) gate as supporters of the animal welfare society used the opportunity to restock its shelves with food, blankets and treats.

With the storeroom buckling under the weight of the donations, other kind-hearted individuals turned their attention to the animals, taking the time to shower them in love.

The team of George Rennie Managing Agents busied themselves in one of the kennels, giving it a tail-wagging make-over.

They challenged other local businesses to adopt a kennel to create a beautiful home inside the shelter’s kennels.

AfriClan Group Services, in Isando, delivered a bakkie load of staff and sponsored food and treats to TAG. Seen here are: Clarissa van Rensburg, Elzaan Smith, Minette Fourie and Lizaan Kunneke.

Carol Lurie took the time to sort through some items on sale at the TAG thrift shop.

Tasked with cleaning the cattery, Ilze Schonken of ICIA and Meyer Associates was slightly distracted by the purring pussycats.

Treats for the children
Buco Rietpan, Great North Road surprised the 19 residents of the Greater Benoni Child and Family Welfare Society’s Colin House with a scrumptious after-school meal.

After enjoying a serving of delicately prepared Dahl, the young residents received sweet treats, party packs and hugs.
