Collect your impounded vehicle before is it disposed

Vehicles that have not been claimed by 15:00 will be disposed of.

If your vehicle was impounded by the EMPD, before December 31, 2023, you have until 15:00 on July 12 to reclaim it from the metro’s pound.

There are 141 vehicles being kept at the city’s four pounds after it was impounded following accidents, contravention of the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996 or the city’s by-laws.

To reclaim your vehicle owners must provide a vehicle registration certificate, proof of ownership, owner’s identity document and receipt proving that pound fees were paid.

Requests for fee reductions may be directed to the City of Ekurhuleni’s Chief of Police. Vehicles that are not claimed before Friday, will be disposed of.

Pounds are open from 08:00 to 15:00, Monday to Friday.
