Dojos recognise karatekas

“We are proud to recognise their efforts. They are dedicated and committed.”

The New World Shotokan (NWS) Karate Benoni and Kempton Park dojos recently honoured their students at their annual awards ceremony.

According to sensei Janien Potgieter, the karatekas were awarded for their great performances and for representing the NWS with pride last year.

“We are proud to recognise their efforts. They are dedicated and committed,” Potgieter said.

“Karate is not a sport, but a discipline. Consistent mental and physical training is required. These karatekas are well on the way to achieving their goals in life.”

The winners were Madeleine Engelmohr, who received a certificate for most improved; Gustav du Plessis,

awarded for consistency; and Megane Potgieter from the Kempton Park dojo, who received a certificate for most technical karateka.
