WATCH: Norfest gates now open

The ever popular family festival is back and promises to ignite your Christmas cheer.

Gates to the highly anticipated Norfest Family Festival, hosted by the Northfield Methodist Church, open at 09:00 and it promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

The two-day event, which kicks off today (December 1), will run until 21:00 tomorrow (December 2) and will be fun for the entire family.

At an entrance fee of only R10 per person, little ones can look forward to jumping and playing to their heart’s content in the dedicated kiddies’ play area.

There they will be able to interact with a variety of farm animals at the petting zoo, while the more adventurous can brave the zip-line.

Browsing through the 56 stalls, mom and dad can choose from a wide variety of crafts which would make perfect gifts for loved ones.

Shopping can be a tiring affair that can only be soothed by a piping hot cup of tea and some scrumptious delicacies.

High tea will be served in the dedicated tea garden on Saturday from 12:00 to 16:00.

Bookings can be made at the venue.

Forecasts of rain? The organisers have things covered so ditch the ‘brollies’ and join in on the fun.

Come tuck into some authentic street food, enjoy loads of live entertainment, roll up your sleeve and donate blood — whatever you choose come and enjoy the fun.

Monies raised will be used to fund the congregation’s ongoing community outreach projects.

With a target of R30 000, Deacon Quinton de Beer has committed to brave the dunk tank, once it has been reached.

Show your support, enjoy the festivities and try your hand at ‘dunking a deacon.’
