Man shot dead, vehicle hijacked by ATM bombers in Etwatwa

A customer at a petrol station in Etwatwa was hijacked and another fatally shot during a robbery and ATM bombing in the early hours of November 20.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, a gang of about 20 men entered the garage and bombed three ATMs.

“The suspects further hijacked a Toyota Quantum from a customer who was at the petrol station and shot another motorist who was driving at the time. The victim lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a wall. He was later certified dead.”

Masondo said the hijacked Quantum was found abandoned in Daveyton.

Etwatwa police have opened a case of business robbery, ATM bombing, murder and car hijacking. Investigations are continuing.
