LETTER: This solar guy is a con artist

M Mudd, Rynfield, writes:

I wish to inform people of scammers. One such guy lives in Rynfield.

He advertised on the local group for solar panels.

I rang him up, and within five minutes, he was at my house.

He looked and quoted me R55 000, plus the inverter that I bought for the lounge in February 2023.

The guy then said to start on Tuesday, he would need to pay that day, which was April 28.

He would buy the stuff he needed, pick it up on Saturday and do the work on the following Tuesday, as Sunday and Monday were holidays.

He then ran me to the bank and the money was deposited into his account.
Tuesday arrived, and he did not pitch.

Then we got the tales – a place still closed, no stock. The guy got fired from who he dealt with. I found out his address and went along to see him – this was on May 11.

He had an inverter, so I said put it into my van and it will be ready when you start work.

Eventually, I got hold of him months later, saying I would sell the inverter if he could get more than the R7 000, then he could come and pick it up, which he didn’t.

This guy, it seems, has taken others in our community for a ride too.

To this day he has not paid the R48 000 he owes. That was my savings. I am a widow and a pensioner.

This guy needs to be exposed for what he did, and I bet he is still stealing from others as I write.

I write this hoping others will take care and do more investigation into the company or persons offering services before parting with their hard-earned cash.
