Book Bash a success
The Book Bash was revived following a lengthy hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic as well as closure of the facility due to renovations.
The Benoni Library’s Friends of the Library is thrilled with the overwhelming support it received during its popular Book Bash.
On October 26 and 27, lovers of literature had the opportunity to scour through hundreds of pre-loved books sold at a fraction of the cost.
For the past 15 years, the group of avid readers have spearheaded the sale in an attempt to raise funds for the facility to purchase highly sought-after best sellers.
“We were pleasantly surprised by the community’s support of the sale,” said Sherryl Easton of the library.
“The love for good quality literature is alive and thriving in this city.
“We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the community for once again supporting this initiative and hope to repay their interest by introducing new titles to the shelves soon.”
The Friends of the Library initiative is geared at fostering a love for reading and garnering support for the library.
Becoming a member is easy and comes with added benefits.
At R40 per year for a single member or R60 per year for a family, members may keep their library books for a month instead of only two weeks and will be first to hear of new reads on the shelves.
