Next cricket season sees recruiting, reshuffling

The new cricket season will start in a few weeks, and local clubs boosted their preparations by recruiting new players for the Easterns Cricket Union club season while others reshuffle their management.

Take note of the following events:

Benoni Northerns Cricket Club

The club calls on young people wanting to join to attend their junior trials on August 5 and 6 at the Benoni Northerns nets on 1 Brodigan Street in Northmead.

The U8s (born in 2015 or later) will start on August 5 from 10:30 to 12:30, and the U10s (born in 2013 and 2014) will follow from 13:00 to 16:00.

On August 6, the U12s (born in 2011 and 2012) will start at 09:30 until 11:30, and the U14s will conclude the trials from 12:30 to 15:30.

The fee is R100 a player.

Old Bens Cricket Club

The club will host its AGM at its HQ on the corner of President Brand and President Boshoff roads in Rynfield on August 28 at 18:00.

Actonville Spurs Cricket Club

The club will host its AGM on July 30 from 11:00 at Lords Cricket Ground on 1515 Mayet Drive in Actonville.

The club will also hold an open day and registration for new age groups and men’s and women’s senior players on August 5 and 6 at Lords.

On August 5, they will start from 13:00 to 16:00 and the next day from 10:00 to 14:00.
