Letter: This congestion is frustrating

Pier Qvist, Benoni, writes:

Life The Glynnwood hospital uses Cranbourne Street for all their deliveries.

There are no loading/delivery zones allocated. Their staff park in the street and use all the complexes’ visiting parking spaces as the hospital does not have free or enough parking for their staff.

The staff park anywhere, even halfway in the complex driveway so that residents can’t get the cars in or out the gates.

We put signs up ‘for residents only’ but that just gets ignored.

The delivery trucks block the road to do deliveries. Most days they block the entrance gates for up to an hour.

They even park on our sidewalk so that no one can get to the pedestrian gate entrance.

Editor’s note: Bonnie Whiffler, marketing and communications for the hospital, responded: “Life The Glynnwood acknowledges the frustration of the residents of the adjacent block of flats and offers our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused. Hospital management has liaised in person with the complainant to ensure a suitable and sustainable solution is found to eliminate the obstruction of traffic flow. “
