Roll up your sleeves on February 15
Corporates, schools and others are invited to host a blood drive.
Healthworx Boksburg, at the East Rand Retail Park, is hosting a blood drive on February 15.
The South African National Blood Services (SANBS) will be ready for donors from 09:00 to 14:00.
Donors must meet the minimum criteria for donating blood, which is as follows:
• Weigh at least 50kg
• Between the ages of 16 and 65
• Be in good health
• Leading a sexually safe lifestyle
• Consider your blood safe for transfusion
• You may only donate every 56 days
SANBS donor relations practitioner for the East Rand, Terrance Pillay, encourages the community to host blood drives.
“Due to economic challenges, we have noticed a decline in donors in the last year or two. Our new approach is to get the community together to host blood drives to make it more accessible for donors,” said Pillay.

There must be at least 30 potential donors for a blood drive to take place.
