WATCH: MEC donates uniform and dignity packs to Daveyton learners

Well-known amapiano artists, Young Stunna and Lady Du also visited the school to wish learners well

Learners and staff of Baikagetsi Primary School in Daveyton had the pleasure of hosting the Gauteng MEC for Social Development, Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mbali Hlophe on January 17.

The MEC’s visit formed part of the Gauteng Provincial Government school readiness programme to kick-start the 2023 academic year.
The department donated 100 full school uniforms and 50 dignity packs to needy beneficiaries at the school.

Speaking to the learners, Hlophe advised the children not to use drugs.

Planting a peach tree at Baikagetsi Primary School is Gauteng MEC for Social Development, Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mbali Hlophe, Lady Du and Steven Mothekge (Baikagetsi Primary School principal).

She further reminded them about the importance of education while highlighting the various programmes in her department that benefits the community.

Meanwhile, a surprise that left learners jumping for joy was when well-known amapiano artists, Young Stunna and Lady Du, took to the stage to motivate the learners as they spoke about the benefits of recycling and staying in school.

After the speeches, Hlophe and a few dignitaries got their hands dirty as they planted various fruit trees and vegetables in the school’s garden.
