Police ramp-up operations as the festive season approaches

Officers take to the streets to conduct crime prevention duties

Assisted by local security companies, the Benoni Police Station embarked on the crime prevention operation on October 28.

Areas including the CBD, Lakefield, Morehill, Western Extension, Lindelani and Msholozi informal settlements were patrolled with members conducting various duties, including random stop-and-searches.

During the operation three suspects were arrested for being in possession of car breaking implements while another two were arrested for dealing in liquor without license.

Other arrests included being drunk in public, domestic violence and contravention of the Immigration Act.
Fines to the value of R3 000 were also issued.

Station commander Brigadier Thabo Mphuthi applauded members and stakeholders for their hard work and warned the public that similar operations will be conducted during the build-up to and duration of the festive period.
