The Ekurhuleni district recently honoured its hard-working detectives from various police stations for securing good convictions in some of the cases that they were investigating.

Captain Neldah Sekgobela, Ekurhuleni district communication officer, said most of the accused received sentences from 15 years to life imprisonment.

Certificates were handed out to the deserving detectives during an awards ceremony in Kempton Park.

In Etwatwa, Sergeant Koos Skhosana and Constable Rembuluwani Khwareli secured a sentence of 15 and 13 years respectively for their cases of armed robbery, arson and attempted murder.

In Actonvile, Constable Vuyisile Phetu and Sergeant Benjamin Masweneng secured a sentence of 12 and 15 years, respectively for both their cases of tampering with essential infrastructure.

The suspect who got a 12-year sentence was arrested after he was spotted digging a trench to access the copper cable near Mabuya Street in Wattville.

In Daveyton, Sergeant Magwalu, Sergeant Makafane and Sergeant Majodina secured three sentences (14 years each) and one 15-year sentence for their attempted murder cases.
