The matrics of Benoni Muslim School has once again made their community and educators proud by attaining a 100% pass average, which is an increase from 2020.
Of the 43 learners who completed their exams, three students received top honours. Radhiyya Essop attained nine distinctions, a first in the school’s history.
“The success that we saw is a combination of determination and effort from learners, parents and teachers,” said Mohamed Laher, principal of the school.
“During the pandemic, we faced many challenges in terms of death, illness and emotional trauma but our learners, as well as our educators, pushed through to achieve excellent results.
“We wish the class of 2021 all the best for their future endeavours and know that they will make us proud.”
According to Radhiyya, her recipe for success was all about maintaining balance.
She will be furthering her studies at the University of the Witwatersrand where she will be studying medicine.
“I appreciate the help and guidance that I received from all my teachers,” she said.
