Ashton College achieves 100% pass rate

Matthew Lubbers is in the top 1% for history.

Ashton International College achieved a 100% matric pass rate, with all the learners obtaining bachelor’s degree exemptions.

The principal of the school’s senior college, Lynne Felix, attributed this achievement to the efforts put in by the teachers and learners in the 2021 academic year.

“The combined efforts of the learners and teachers has resulted in a year of astounding results.

“I would like to thank every learner, parent and teacher and every member of the Ashton family for their dedication to the task at hand and for delivering truly remarkable results. We wish all the learners everything of the best. They clearly have a bright future ahead of them,” said Felix.

Milla Mandic and Matthew Lubbers were the school’s top achievers with seven distinctions each, while Kerryn Hopkinson got six distinctions.

Lubbers, who is in the top 1% in business studies, English and geography, told the City Times this year, he will take a gap year to do short courses and pursue information technology at UCT next year.

Hopkinson, who is in the top 1% in history, will pursue film and media at either the University of Stellenbosch or UCT.

She said: “I am relieved and excited about the future. I was really hoping I would pass. I just didn’t think I will do as well.”
