Order books to help Kids Haven

“Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” – Jim Rohn.

Kids Haven understands this all too well, and that is why they have opened a library for their children – a safe and secure environment for them to read age-appropriate books that have been donated to them.

“Our children enjoy reading, and we encourage them to do so,” said fund-raising coordinator Susan Daly.

“We receive books as donations and our children keep some of them, while the rest are sold so that Kids Haven can utilise the funds to further assist the children.”

Daly explained that the children are taught to take care of their items so that someone else can benefit at a later stage.

“An example of this is when a child’s clothes become too small for them, they are placed in the charity shop and when sold, the money is used to buy anything else needed to keep the home functional.”

While Kids Haven appreciates any kind of monetary or item donations, members of the public are also encouraged to buy books from them so that both parties benefit.

“Our books are in good condition and affordable,” Daly explained.

“People can email books@kidshaven.co.za or shop@kidshaven.co.za to ask us about any book they may want to buy or anything about our charity shops.

“They can also WhatsApp us on 071 860 0505 if they would like to donate second-hand goods to us. We also collect.”

The home does not only look after their children, in June they also donated books to the Ekasi Library.
“We also hold book fairs at Tait House every few months,” Daly explained.
