Winners of the u-17 national badminton champs crowned

According to Vicky Fenny, EGBA junior secretary, the coaches were pleased with the result.

The u-17 South African National Badminton Championships were held recently at the Eastern Gauteng Badminton Association (EGBA) home ground, John Barrable Hall.

The winners were as follows:

• Boys’ singles: Neil van Wyk (Border)

• Girls’ singles: Amy Ackerman (EGBA)

• Boys’ doubles: Heather Delport (KZN) and Sherav Maharaj (KZN)

• Girls’ doubles: Amy Ackerman (EGBA) and Mia Labuschagne (Border)

• Mixed doubles: Sherav Maharaj (KZN) and Ulysha Padayachee (KZN)

According to Vicky Fenny, EGBA junior secretary, the coaches were pleased with the result, as this was the first South African Championship/Badminton Tournament that Badminton SA has been able to have since the start of lockdown.

“The players showed a lot of heart and dedication to their sport with a good result,” she stated.
