Etwatwa Greening Team cleans up community

According to the founder of Etwatwa Greening Team, Vusi Matladi, this area has been affected by littering and illegal dumping

To close Mandela Month on a good note, the Etwatwa Greening Team decided to host a clean-up of the Blesbokspruit Wetland situated in Daveyton North last month.

A total of 63 bags of rubbish were collected at the first clean-up site while 110 were collected at the second one.

According to the founder of Etwatwa Greening Team, Vusi Matladi, this area has been affected by littering and illegal dumping.

Scientists of the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) Nandipha Matiwana and Makgosana Maoto assisted with the clean-ups.

“The directorate is called Environmental Empowerment Services and I am responsible for the programme of Bontle ke Botho Clean-Ups,” said Matladi.

“They also supported us with plastic bags, industrial brooms, litter pickers, refuse bags and gloves.

“We are looking forward to partnering with GDARD to pave the way forward and to encourage community participation in healthy green environments for our city and community at large.”
