Crystal Park beauty advocates for gender-based violence

The 16-year-old said as one of the finalists, she advocates for eradication of poverty and abuse.

Miss Teen Egoli 2021 finalist Pearl Thobile Khumalo is creating awareness on gender-based violence and poverty through the pageant.

The 16-year-old said as one of the finalists, she advocates for eradication of poverty and abuse.

“I hope more people can help me bring back peace to the community and help me in creating a better life for the homeless through donations,” said Pearl.

“My vision is to start group sessions where all survivors can share their stories and encourage each other in a safe space.”

The Crystal Park resident said it is important for those who are abused to know they are not alone and are stronger than their pain.

“They are not victims but survivors. We read and watch on the news about the high rate of poverty and cases of gender-based abuse, but little has really been done to resolve this,” she said.

“How much more blood and tears must be shed until our voices are heard? Let us make a change, my fellow Africans. Together we can.”

Anyone who would like to assist Pearl in helping the less fortunate can email her at pearlkhumalo123@gmail.com
