Young creatives launch streaming network

Young creatives who would like to share their content with the network can contact Vuyo on 064 986 6931 or Swakhile on 079 804 8683.

Creating a platform where young creatives can tell their stories is what inspired Vuyo Joboda and Swakhile Mashwama to officially launch the Vuyo Joboda Network, an online streaming platform, in Rynfield.

The network is a digital media, entertainment network and streaming service that speaks to changing the landscape of media in the African continent by telling African stories through fashion, fitness, cooking, music and lifestyle.

Deputy minister of sports, arts and culture Nocawe Mafu flew from Cape Town to attend the launch and commended Vuyo on going through uncharted territories.

“Anybody who does anything in arts and culture and sports are my heroes.

“I am here to show my support and to let her know we are 100 per cent behind her, and we want her to go beyond what she is doing now.”

Vuyo is one of the youngest executive producers and female directors on the continent who is in the process of creating one of the biggest streaming platforms with African ignited original content that they want to share with the world.

During her speech at the launch, she said she was honoured to be standing as a young black person who wants to change the world and through this network, Africa will never be the same.

“No one will stand and stop us from maximizing our purpose. I made a conscious decision that through this network my family will not go through the struggles that I have been through.”

Co-founder Swakhile shared the story of how he met Vuyo in Cape Town and realised how their visions were aligned and that is why he joined her on this journey.

“Our vision is to break the chains and not to be held back by politics or limits. People in this industry have to fit certain criteria and through our online streaming platform, we will be changing the industry and creating jobs.

“This network means that young people have a platform to shine.”

Engineering company BNM Technology group, based in Rynfield, have jumped on board as one of the sponsors for the network.

The MD of the company, Bongani Mashwama, said they chose to get involved as they were fascinated by the network and empowering the youth.

“We have availed our full structure of the company and felt it necessary to make the dreams of the network come true.

We believe in their vision and we want to make it even bigger as we are planning to build our very own film studio here in Ekurhuleni.

“We have already obtained land and are committed to making it a reality.”

The launch was celebrated through live performances with food and drinks.

Those who are interested in streaming the network can do so by signing up on www.vuyojobodanetwork.com and follow the network on all social media networks @vuyojobodanetwork.
