Police arrest 15 in a crime-prevention operation

The operation focused on roadblocks, stop-and-searches, liquor, drugs, second-hand goods compliance and disaster management act regulations.

The Benoni police made several arrests during the Okae Molao crime-prevention operation, led by Brig Thabo Mphuti, on March 11.

The operation was conducted in various parts of Benoni from 4.45am to 2pm.

The operation focused on roadblocks, stop-and-searches, liquor, drugs, second-hand goods compliance and disaster management act regulations.

During the operation, four people were arrested for dealing in drugs, as well as 11 illegal immigrants, four liquor outlets were closed and issued with fines to the value of R6 000, four second-hand goods shops with suspected stolen goods were closed and 89 traffic fines valued at R35 800 were issued.

The station commander, Brig Thabo Mputhi, thanked all SAPS, EMPD and Gauteng Traffic members for the good work they carried out throughout the operation.
