TAG assists animal lovers daily

For more information on how to help, residents may contact Jungmann on 076 330 5736.

Teenagers from Daveyton and Zenzele informal settlements walked to The Animal Guardians (TAG) facility on Cloverdene Road to take advantage of the daily outreach programme recently launched by the organisation.

Since the start of the pandemic, many animal lovers have found it hard to care for their furry friends and as the need arose, TAG extended their weekly outreach programme to a daily service.

The organisation assists pet parents who cannot afford to feed their animals with food, leashes, dipping and sterilisation if needed.

Director of TAG, Annalise Jungmann, said that since the launch of the daily outreach they donate over 300kg of food daily.

This programme not only assists those who want to keep their animals and cannot afford it, but also allows the staff to check the welfare of the animals that are brought in.

Annalise explained that a big issue currently is that ropes, wire and fan belts are being used as collars, which could potentially hurt the animals.

“Just recently a dog was brought and the wire that was used as a collar had grown into his neck. We had removed it and rushed him off to the vet where he had to spend a few days in the hospital.”

They had since sent out a plea to the public who can assist by donating collars and leashes.

All Covid-19 regulations are followed, which include sanitising, wearing of masks and social distancing.

The organisation needs all the help they can get from the public to continue assisting their outreach animals.

Those who need help can visit the organisation at 86 Cloverdene Road, Rynfield from 10am to 3pm.
