Etwatwa model needs funds to go to New York

She was chosen from hundreds of participants who represented an assortment of performing arts disciplines.

Etwatwa resident Thato Malapane has been invited to attend the International Modelling and Talent Association (IMTA) competition in New York in July next year.

To attend, she needs to raise funds to ensure her dream of acting internationally comes to fruition.

The 22-year-old recently performed at the international ARTS showcase at Silverstar Casino.

She was chosen from hundreds of participants who represented an assortment of performing arts disciplines.

This young model said going to New York would mean a lot to her because she would’ve achieved one of her biggest dreams in her life, and this trip would open a lot of closed doors for her.

“I have been bullied my entire life because of the birthmark I have on my face, which I find very special and unique,” said Thato.

“My goal is to change people’s negative attitude and mindsets, I want to make them believe that anything is possible when you work hard, when you put in more effort and never give up as giving up is the birth of regret, and always trust God’s timing.”

Thato has been a model for the past two years. She has modelled at the Kwa-Thema Fashion Week and at the Fearless Walk.

She said she loves fashion and modelling with all her heart.

“Modelling helped me a lot with finding myself and boosting my confidence and bringing out that killer attitude when I am on stage. I believe I was born to be a model,” she said.

She studied hospitality at the Ekurhuleni East TVET College and she has a small bakery called Tee’s Gateau Bakery.
