Winning titles with no penalties

A Benoni riding school outshone the competition at the National Erreplus Maple Ridge President’s Cup 2020, hosted at Maple Ridge, in Krugersdorp, recently.

Competitors from across South Africa all arrived on the day with the hope of taking a title home.

This year Sunny Park came back home with the adult and the junior title.

Sunny Park Stables is situated in Benoni and riders from all over the East Rand train there with Nicola Sime Riley (owner and principal instructor) .

This is Nicola’s third President’s Cup title (Adult title) and this year she won with her amazing Stallion Insaghi DB.

Nicola took the title because she was the only competitor to jump quadruple clear rounds and ended the whole competition with only a one time penalty.

Nicola’s student who rides and competes out of Sunny Park, Hailey Strydom and her horse Locarno Cosmopolitan, performed well under the pressure of coming into the final day as the highest qualifier, carrying the least penalties.

Hailey and Locarno Cosmopolitan stayed calm and collected and ended the President’s Cup as the only quadruple clear in the Junior President’s cup (Junior title).

There are four President’s Cup titles:

• The Pony Rider title (1.10m)

• The Children’s title (1.10m)

• The Junior title (1.30m)

• The Adult title (1.50m).
