Roaming springbok finds a new home at BCC

Trainee SPCA inspector Sifiso Mthembu (left), veterinarian Dr Clifford Bull, SPCA inspector Oageng Mosito and trainee SPCA inspector Thomas Mohlake worked together to ensure the animal was contained, darted and safely released.

The springbok that was spotted on Adahilia Road this morning (October 9) was safely released at the Benoni Country Club in Morehill, as they also home the same species of springbok.

Dr Clifford Bull from the Craig View Veterinary Clinic darted the adult female after employees of Eskom noticed the animal walking in the street at around 8am.

The Benoni SPCA was notified and kept the animal contained to prevent it from causing itself injury.

Where the springbok escaped from is unknown at this stage.
