A local church is giving back to the residents of Etwatwa who are in need while spreading the word of God.
The Swedish Free Church recently served soup, pap, and bread to more than 50 residents of Etwatwa on August 29.
Bishop Sipho Mashego of the church said the soup kitchen aimed to get the community together as a family and share one meal.

“The residents came out in numbers and they appreciated the meal and we thank God because we can do all things through Him who gives us the strength,” said Mashego.
He explained that he and seven members of the church decided to give back to society during the lockdown.
“The reason behind the idea was that we saw that most people were vulnerable and the church decided to come to their rescue by doing good as the book of Matthew 25, verses 35 to 37 commands,” said Mashego.
The church also gave masks to those in need.

“As we went to deliver the food parcels to the identified residents, we discovered that some of the families needed clothes so we asked people to donate clothes to help keep those families warm.”
Mashego said the response they received was positive and he would like to extend his deepest gratitude to everyone who opened their hands to help.
“I hope and trust that God will reward them abundantly for all that they have done during Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
He said the church will continue to do its best to assist those in need with the generous donations they receive.
