Crafters happy to be back at the Bunny Park Market

The next market and Caxton Car Boot Sale will be on October 31.

The Bunny Park Craft Market was filled with a number of crafters from all over East Rand and shoppers who couldn’t wait to support them after the market was postponed from March due to the pandemic.

The market was held on September 26 from 9am to 2.30pm.

The Maluleka family, Tsakane (left), Nabby and Joseph, sold plants during the market.

Northmead resident Ria Visser, who has been part of the market for the past 12 years, said she was happy to be back and can’t wait for the next one. She sells homemade biscuits and sweets.

“It was challenging during the lockdown, as this business is my only source of income,” she said.

“I tried selling online but I bake in bulk so I couldn’t just bake one order for one person.”

She said she was happy to see her old and new clients.

Her daughter, Marli Visser, who sells doggie treats, said during lockdown things were also difficult for her.

“Now that the market is back, I am hopeful that things will get better,” she said.

Marli Visser sold doggie treats.

The market has been run for 19 years by Janine Richardson and her mother, Joan Gould.

A Primrose resident, Margaret Mollison, who has been part of the market since it started, said she is also delighted to be back and she hopes things will get better.

“At the market, I get a lot of people who buy from me compared to when I sell online,” said Mollison.

“I thank my clients who supported me even during the lockdown.”

Mollison sells handmade items for babies.

Benoni residents Safia Khan (left) and Eulene Smith were looking forward to the next market as this was their first time at the Bunny Park Craft Market.
