A 28-year-old man is facing a charge of statutory rape for being in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
The man was arrested on September 16 at Mayfield Extension Eight, Putfontein.
Sgt Raider Ubisi said according to the child’s mother, she went to the mall on September 16 and when she returned her daughter was not home.
“She then went searching for her with the help of community members. They then received a tip-off about the girl’s whereabouts,” said Ubisi.
“The mother and community members found her daughter with the man.”
Ubisi said the mother called the police and laid a charge against the man.
The man was arrested and he will appear at the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon.
