Five people sustained fatal injuries and another person sustained moderate injuries following a head-on collision on Birch Road in Benoni AH on August 18.
“When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 8pm, they found one vehicle with five patients still entrapped,” said ER24 multimedia journalist Ineke van Huyssteen.

“All five of the occupants showed no signs of life and they were declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
“The driver of the second vehicle was found lying next to his vehicle, standing off the roadway. Upon further assessment, it was found the man had sustained moderate injuries.”
ER24 treated the man at the scene before transporting him to hospital for further medical care.
