Sandra le Blanc writes:

I write to you about the appalling service from our metro police department.

We suspected that an employee may have been involved in a taxi accident on his way to work recently.

He had not been heard from since 8.30am when he tried to call us from his cellphone, and he was also not heard from by his other employer, which is highly unusual behaviour for him.

Our first response was to try and call our local traffic department to find out if there was perhaps a taxi accident between Dunswart and Benoni, but we had absolutely zero success with all of the contact details we tried.

Listed below are incorrect numbers found on various websites:

  • 011 999 5050
  • 011 999 6796
  • 011 999 6789
  • 011 739 1211

How can this be that a government service provider does not have a single usable, updated contact number listed anywhere for citizens to call?

Editor’s note: EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said while accidents should be reported to the SAPS, the EMPD can be contacted on 011 999 4722, 011 999 7878 or 011 999 7337.
