Who is Curro Serengeti?

Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into self-confident individuals and to reach their personal, educational and eventual workplace goals.

Curro Serengeti is an English-medium independent school adjacent to the Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, that provides high-quality education for learners from Grade R to Grade 12. Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into self-confident individuals and to reach their personal, educational and eventual workplace goals. Our highly qualified and dedicated teachers and well-rounded educational approach prepare learners for the IEB examinations at the end of Grade 12.

Our nursery school, Curro Castle Serengeti, offers an integrated play-based educational programme to children from 3 months to 5 years. The Castle follows an internally-developed learning programme to support the child’s early learning and development goals. Every class has a teacher and a teacher’s assistant to ensure that the young learners receive individual attention and care. A well-planned weekly menu is designed to provide nutritious meals for the children so that they are able to develop both cognitively and physically. The Castle follows its own calendar, separate from that of the primary and high schools, and offers a year-long educational and care facility to also cater for working parents.

The primary school has an aftercare centre which operates after school and during the school holidays.

At Curro Serengeti we balance academic excellence with sports and cultural well-being, thereby ensuring that learners develop into well-rounded individuals.

We believe that participation in activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence in addition to physical and social well-being. Therefore, we offer a wide variety of sports and cultural activities, including soccer, netball, rugby, hockey, tennis, golf, swimming, mountain biking, marimba lessons, chess, and the Curro Create cultural and arts programmes, aimed at helping learners discover their inherent talents and broaden their exposure beyond their current reference framework.

The primary school and the senior phase in the high school follow the CAPS curriculum which is extended in curriculum content and subjects. Curro Serengeti understands the need for technology-based subjects therefore Computer Literacy is taught from the foundation phase to the senior phase.  Robotics has been part of the primary school curriculum for many years and will be introduced in the senior phase from 2021.

The FET phase focuses on additional problem-solving skills and all Grade 12 learners write the IEB examinations, which is accepted both in South Africa and abroad.
