A father and son were shot in their home at The Fountains, Moore Avenue, Benoni South, during a house robbery this morning (July 29) at around 1.45am.
Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said according to the wife, her and her husband were asleep, but woke up when their son and sister-in-law walked into their bedroom followed by a man holding them at gunpoint.
“The wife and sister-in-law screamed and while the husband was trying to calm them down they heard gunshots. They then discovered the husband and son had been shot in their lower bodies.”
The suspect fled with two cellphones and cash which he took from the son and sister-in-law.
A case of house robbery and attempted murder was opened at the Benoni Police Station.
The husband and son were taken to hospital for treatment.
