Eight arrested for not complying with the Covid-19 regulations in Actonville

All those who were arrested will appear in Benoni Magistrate's Court soon.

The Actonville SAPS together with the SANDF, Gauteng traffic and EMPD members embarked on an operation that mainly focused on enforcing Covid-19 Regulations and illegal mining around Emandleni informal settlement.

The operation, led by Actonville SAPS station commander Col Elsie Mashinini, was held on May 8 from 7am to 4pm.

Spokesperson Capt Pheello Mothapo said during the operation, seven people were arrested for contravening the Covid-19 regulations.

“A 35-year-old man was also arrested for dealing in dagga worth R5 000, including illicit cigarettes worth about R2 000 and he was also found with R450 cash,” said Mothapo.

The illegal mining equipment seized during the operation.

“The operation also saw a confiscation of generators, pendukas, grinder, hose pipe and app gas, which were discovered at the informal settlement.”

The station commander thanked the members of SAPS and other law-enforcement agencies for their unshaken commitment to dealing with crime and criminals.
