Missing Farrarmere man found in hospital after allegedly being tied to a tree

According to a family member, they were told that the man was admitted to hospital after being found in Lakefield. 

Benoni SAPS are investigating whether a case of assault will be opened after a 59 year old, who was allegedly wounded, was found at a government hospital.

According to Benoni SAPS spokesperson, Capt Nomsa Sekele, a case of a missing person was opened at the station on April 18 after the man went missing on April 16.

“On April 24 the family notified the police that the man was found at a hospital,” she said.

A family member, who did not want to be named, said they were told by the hospital that the police called the ambulance to transport the man to hospital after they found him tied to a tree.

“We got there and was told by the hospital that the police found him naked and tortured,” the member added.

However, Benoni SAPS have not confirmed this.

“He is unable to speak, he is now on diapers and has a food pipe,” the member said.
