Daveyton residents receive T-shirts as a reminder about the importance of social distancing

Emmanuel Koro said prevention is always better, cheaper and safer than a cure.

Following the Covid-19 outbreak in South Africa, environmentalist Emmanuel Koro recently distributed T-shirts with the slogan “Maintain the Metre” in Daveyton.

This was done to educate the community about the importance of keeping a metre distance between every individual at all times to prevent anyone infected with the virus from spreading it to others.

Freddie Motaung, of the Daveyton Township Local Economic Development Committee, thanked Koro for distributing the T-shirts to the Daveyton community.

“Alerting people on how social distance prevents the spread of Covid-19 and saves human lives is a timely and welcome campaign that should be continued,” said Motaung.

Koro added that in just three months, Covid-19 has proved to be one of the fastest moving, most infectious and deadliest illnesses to confront humankind in the last 700 years.

“Despite this, medical specialists and an array of scientists have given the world an easy and effective way to end the spread of the Covid-19 disease.

“Johannesburg has been declared South Africa’s epicentre of the Covid-19 disease. It has the highest number of Covid-19 infected people in the country,” he said.
