Jiu jitsu athletes make Benoni proud at tournament
They competed against some of the toughest opponents in Africa.

Three Benoni residents and East Rand BJJ competitors travelled to Cape Town recently to compete in the Abu Dhabi Continental Pro jiu jitsu tournament.

The results were as follows:
• Sean Maher (purple belt) won gold.
• James Maher (purple belt) received bronze.
• Anine Lombard (blue belt) received gold.
“This is the most prestigious event in Africa, with over 200 entries, so we are very proud of these accomplishments,” said Lombard.
