ERBJJ Academy is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu family gym run by coach Brandon Newman under the affiliation of Marcello Monteiro, in Atlasville.

Local Benoni resident, Xola Kumalo, was recently awarded his purple belt after nine long years.

The purple belt level practitioner would have gained a large amount of knowledge of the jiu jitsu art.

Purple belts are generally considered qualified to instruct lower-ranked students.

”They are tested on both technique as well as live sparring rounds.

”The kids and adults group worked very hard in preparation for their grading, and made coach Brandon Newman (blackbelt under Marcello monteiro) extremely proud with their knowledge of the gentle art,” said Anine Lombard, competitor and social media handler.
