Bangladesh wins Cricket World Cup

After many great matches, hot days and rained-out games, the winners of the tournament managed to dethrone previous champions India.

The u-19 Cricket World Cup has come to an end.

India’s defeat in the final against Bangladesh was the first time they had lost an ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup since the 2016 final against West Indies.

Bangladesh have become the seventh side to win an ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup.

Previous winners include: India, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies and England.

This world cup saw many exciting accomplishments being made, and just to name a few:

Wesley Madhevere’s (Zimbabwe) recorded eight scalps this world cup and as a result became the all-time leading wicket-taker in all his matches (28).

He surpassed the 27 set by Moises Henriques (Australia) and Greg Thompson (Ireland).

Yashasvi Jaiswal was responsible for 38 per cent of India’s total runs (400/1040), the highest share by any batsman for a side.

Afghanistan’s Shafiqullah Ghafari picked up more player-of-the-match awards (three) than anyone else at the tournament.

He was the only bowler to pick up a five-wicket haul on two occasions, versus South Africa (6/15) and United Arab Emirates (5/23).

There are many more awards and accomplishments that were acknowledged after the tournament had run its course.
